Rursee (Lake Rur)
In the midst of the luscious green of the Eifel forest landscape the deep blue water of the Rursee is more than inviting. Just lazing on the banks, soaking up the sunshine, or forgetting your troubles in a canoe or sail boat, enjoy the peace and quiet of the bays or watch the hustle and bustle from aboard a pleasure boat. Hellenthal Game Reserve
The Hellenthal Game Reserve is in the middle of the Eifel National Park, not far from Monschau and is home to mostly domestic game, such as deer and wild boars. A special attraction is the Raptor Centre where you can admire eagles and falcons in free flight.

Red House - Monschau
The Red House was erected in 1752 by Johann Heinrich Scheibler, cloth-maker and merchant, as his residence and business domicile. Furnished entirely in Rococo, Louis XVI and Empire period styles, it reflects the splendour of upper middle class life embodied in an ensemble of rare unity. Tours of the town?s landmark are of course possible.

Bütgenbach Reservoir
Situated in the midst of picturesque forests and meadows, the Bütgenbach Reservoir is not just something for water sports fans. If you prefer things easy-going, you can lounge on the family beach and watch the other energetic people sailing, surfing or canoeing or catch your own supper with a fishing rod. Or how about a gentle tour by bike or on foot through the Warchetal valley? And if you prefer a bit of adventure, there?s always mountain biking, the high rope course or the climbing wall.

Vogelsang
Vogelsang has been open to the public since January 2006. After sixty years of military use, the former national socialist education camp is now an information centre for politics and nature. Whether you take part in one of the daily tours or a longer hiking route a visit to Vogelsang is unforgettable.

Eifel National Park / National Park Gates
There are four specific ports of call for visitors in the Eifel National Park: the National Park Gates in Simmerath-Rurberg, in Schleiden-Gemünd, at the railway station in Heimbach and in Monschau-Höfen. These visitor centres offer interesting exhibits on various Eifel themes. From here, you can discover the National Park by joining one of the guided tours.
